Be Boulder image Office of the Registrar

Once your student starts classes, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) goes into effect to protect their education records. You do not automatically have access to your student’s records, and therefore will not have access to their grades, class schedule and registration information without their authorization.

If you or other family members would like access, there are two authorizing options your student can approve:

  • CU Guest Access: This provides read-only, online access to specific components of their records.
  • FERPA Consent to Release: Grants you (a designated third party) permission to talk with a university representative about your student’s academic or financial records.

Your student can authorize this access in their MyCUInfo portal.
